How do we reset passwords for staff or parents?
There are a few different ways of resetting passwords depending on whether you’re an admin, a staff member, or a parent.
Resetting Staff Passwords
1. Admin-Initiated Reset
-
Log in as an Admin.
Navigate to Admin → Staff / Users.
Find the staff member in the list.
Click Reset Password (or similar option).
POGO will typically:
- Send a temporary password via email, OR
- Allow you to set a new password manually.
- Inform the staff member to log in and change the password immediately.
Tip: Always confirm the staff email is correct, as the reset link will go there.
2. Staff Self-Service
- Staff can click “Forgot Password?” on the POGO login page.
- Enter their email.
- Follow the link sent by POGO to reset the password.
- Works best if email addresses in POGO are up to date.
Resetting Parent Passwords
1. Parent Self-Service
- Parents can use the “Forgot Password?” link on the parent login page.
- Enter the email registered with POGO.
- POGO sends a reset link to that email.
2. Admin-Assisted Reset
- If a parent cannot access email or hasn’t received the link:
- Admin logs in → Admin → Parents / Users.
- Find the parent account.
- Click Reset Password.
- POGO either sends a temporary password or lets the admin set a new one.
- After resetting, advise the parent to change the password immediately.
Best Practices
- Encourage strong, unique passwords.
- Avoid sharing passwords directly; always use temporary links when possible.
- Keep a log of resets for auditing (optional, for compliance).
- Make sure email addresses are up-to-date — resets only work if the system can send the email.
- If multiple resets fail, check for email spam/junk folder issues.
